Créé par IMG (groupe marketing, évènementiel et management) en partenariat avec Joe Warwick (cofondateur de « The World’s 50 Best Restaurants ») et l’éditeur et écrivain Andrea Petrini, The World Restaurant Awards remet plusieurs prix afin de considérer la cuisine et les restaurants comme des éléments culturels à part entière. Il valorise la diversité et la culture de la scène culinaire mondiale à travers 17 catégories divisées en deux types de prix : « Big Plates » et « Small Plates ».
La sélection dévoilée en décembre dernier a été effectuée par un jury composé de 50 hommes et 50 femmes de 37 nationalités différentes. Il est notamment composé de 11 personnalités françaises, ainsi que d’entrepreneurs, écrivains, éditeurs, influenceurs et autres professionnels du monde culinaire. L’ensemble des membres est accessible et visible par tous sur http://restaurantawards.world/ pour un classement en toute transparence, comme l’est la « Longlist ».
Sur la base de ce panel, le jury a effectué une nouvelle sélection, la « Shortlist », que nous vous proposons de découvrir ci-dessous.
Le palmarès final sera quant à lui dévoilé le 18 février 2019 à Paris par Antoine de Caunes.
